The petrol version of the Tank 300 has been confirmed for Australia, and it’ll be almost $10,000 cheaper than the hybrid variant
GWM Australia has confirmed it will bring a petrol-powered Tank 300 to Australia to join the existing hybrid lineup.
The petrol-powered Tank 300 range will enter with the entry Lux priced from $46,990 driveaway, while the top-shelf Ultra will cost $50,990 driveaway.
That puts the petrol Lux variant at $9000 cheaper than its hybrid equivalent and the Ultra variant $10,000 more affordable than its hybrid counterpart.
Both Lux and Ultra petrol variants will come standard with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 162kW/380Nm. The four-pot will be paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a part-time four-wheel-drive system.
GWM claims that the petrol Tank 300 variants will return a combined fuel economy figure of 10.7L/100km.

The Tank 300 was tested in 2022 by ANCAP where it received a five-star safety rating. The vehicle scored 88 percent for adult occupant protection and 89 percent for child occupant protection.
However, the rating currently only applies to hybrid versions.
