2017 Toyota HiLux TRD accessories package now available

Toyota Australia has added a TRD accessories package for its HiLux ute. Only available on the SR5 dual cab diesel 4×4, the TRD accessories pack is priced for $58,990 for the manual and $59,540 for the automatic.

Unlike the last HiLux TRD, there have been no mechanical changes to the new model, with most of the package being purely cosmetic. The TRD accessories package must also be ordered on a black or white HiLux SR5 – there are no other colours available.

The TRD accessories package includes a black mesh TRD grille, red TRD front skid plate, TRD front bumper and TRD wheel arch flares up front. Black 18-inch six-spoke alloy wheels also feature, as does a black sports bar, black body mouldings on the front and sides, a tow kit and tray liner, soft tonneau cover, black tailamp covers and TRD mudflaps.

On the inside, the TRD accessories package includes TRD carpet floormats with a red TRD logo, as well as a TRD leather sports gearknob for automatic variants.

Toyota Australia’s executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said the SR5 grade was chosen for the TRD accessories package because it accounted for more than half of all 4×4 HiLux sales in 2016.

“Local buyers voted with their wallets to make HiLux the best-selling vehicle in Australia last year – and the majority clearly indicated their preference for upmarket features combined with HiLux’s renowned go-anywhere capability,” Mr Cramb said.

“We have responded to that demand by compiling premium components, including the respected TRD brand, that will further distinguish HiLux from the competitors and from every other HiLux in our range,” he said.

The HiLux TRD accessories package builds on the SR5’s already healthy equipment list, including leather seat trim, an electric driver’s seat, automatic LED headlights, climate control air-conditioning, satellite navigation, a reversing camera, Bluetooth, a DAB+ digital radio and a multi-function leather steering wheel.
