Mazda BT-50 2025: pricing and specifications for updated ute range

A fresh look and upgraded interior tech are key highlights for Hiroshima’s 17-variant updated ute line-up

Mazda Australia has released pricing and specification details for “the most significant update” to its BT-50 ute range since the current-generation TF series first launched in 2020.

For MY25, the subtly face-lifted exterior design benefits from a new grille and front bumper assembly augmented by revised LED headlights up front.

Meanwhile, at the rear end, the tailgate now features “mountain inspired” ridged sheet metal and a larger Mazda logo. The tailgate has been upgraded with a damped ‘easy-down’ mount.

Inside, variants are fitted with either updated 8.0-inch (XS and XT) or 9.0-inch (XTR, GT and SP) touchscreen driver’s displays depending on which of the five variant grades are chosen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now wireless (or, optionally, USB) across the line-up.

The old 4.2-inch LCD driver’s screen offered across the board thus far is now replaced by a 7.0-inch screen in some variants.

As before, every variant bar one of the vast 17-strong-variant line-up fits the carryover 3.0-litre four-cylinder diesel outputting the same 140kW and 450Nm as the pre-facelifted trim.

Once again, a sole 1.9-litre oiler is offered in the base, steel-wheelled, rear-driven XS grade outputting 110kW and 350Nm. All variants fit a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Three body styles continue to be offered: the Single Chassis cab-chassis, the Freestyle extended cab and the proper two-row Dual Cab, the latter available in both cab chassis and the full-tub pick-up formats.

Both 4×2 and 4×4 are offered on all three body styles.

The five staple variants continue with the familiar grade walk of XS, XT, XTR, GT and flagship SP. The feature-laden Thunder is currently not listed in the MY25 line-up though it’s expected to join the range at a later date.

In Single Cab chassis guise, the base 1.9L XS (from $36,400 list) gets LED headlights, 8.0-inch media, cloth seats and adaptive cruise control, while stepping up to the XT (from $39,400) nabs the 3.0-litre engine, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a rear-locking diff and Rough Terrain drive modes on 4×4 versions (from $47,250).

The Freestyle cab chassis body style, only offered in XT trim, lifts pricing for the 4×2 ($43,000) and 4×4 ($51,000) options.

Meanwhile, the popular Dual Cab choices bring three 4×2 options in the XT cab chassis ($46,610) and pick-up styles ($48,210), and mid-grade XTR ($53,790) lobs as the priciest rear-driver.

Choices in Dual Cab 4×4 start with the XT Cab Chassis ($54,620) and scale up through seven variants offered in four different trim levels to the SP pickup ($71,500), the priciest option available.

XTR grade brings 18-inch alloys, auto-levelling LED headlights, 9.0-inch media, and other niceties such as dual-zone climate control and proprietary sat-nav. Pickup versions get a tub liner and tow bar with receiver.

The GT adds leather trim with an electric driver seat, as well as heated front seats and mirrors while adding front parking sensors.

The tree-topping SP brings unique 18-inch wheels, black and terracotta Maztex faux suede seat trim, gloss black exterior detailing with matching sidesteps and wheel flares, and a manual tonneau roller cover.

The MY25 BT-50 goes on sale in Mazda dealerships this month.
