The Triton-related Pajero Sport has gained another facelift, but 2WD variants have been dropped and prices are up by as much as $2400
Mitsubishi Australia has announced its facelifted Pajero Sport large SUV for the MY24 model year, which is now available in local dealerships.
The Triton-based Pajero Sport has scored a refreshed exterior design, including updated upper and lower grilles, front and rear bumper garnishes and new multi-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels across the four grades, each with their own unique finishes.
The Japanese automaker has also dropped 2WD Pajero Sports from the local lineup, citing a lack of demand for these variants.
As a result, price of entry for the 2024 Pajero Sport has climbed by $6600, with the base GLX five seater now costing $51,490 before on-road costs.
At the top end of the lineup, the flagship GSR now costs $64,840 before on-road costs.
Pricing in general has increased by between $1600 and $2400, depending on the variant.
With the launch of the new-gen Mitsubishi Triton, this could be one of the last facelifts for the current-gen Pajero Sport before it’s completely overhauled.
The Pajero Sport competes directly with other large SUVs such as the Toyota Hilux-based Fortuner, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and the Ford Everest.
Mitsubishi has tweaked a few things for its Pajero Sport, including the following:
In terms of interior changes, the Pajero Sport now benefits from a new three-spoke leather steering wheel taken directly from the new-generation Triton ute. Also new inside is the newest version of Mitsubishi’s adaptive cruise control, with owners now no longer able to switch between standard and adaptive cruise.
The GSR and Exceed variants now add revised instrument display graphics through an 8.0-inch digital driver display.
Mitsubishi says the flagship Pajero Sport GSR has had substantial improvements to its cabin, including the addition of two-tone, diamond-pattern synthetic leather upholstery, along with Dark Titanium finish for the bezels, dash garnishes and door panels.
The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport continues to be powered by a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine that produces 133kW/430Nm. It’s exclusively paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.
All prices listed are before on-road costs.
