The new Range Rover Sport SV flagship boasts 467kW and sub-four-second performance
Land Rover has officially revealed the Range Rover Sport SV, the first mild-hybrid flagship in the model’s history.
Powering the new SV will be a BMW 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine with mild-hybrid assistance that produces total outputs of 467kW/750Nm.
In ‘dynamic launch mode’, the SV overboosts to 800Nm and is claimed to be capable of sprinting to 100km/h in 3.8 seconds.
But the top-shelf Range Rover Sport won’t come in cheap. It will launch in a special SV Edition One P635 trim priced from $360,800 before on-road costs, or a significant $163,000 more than the Autobiography D350 variant.
The Range Rover Sport SV Edition One will compete with other premium luxury SUVs such as the BMW XM, Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV and the Porsche Cayenne.
The new Range Rover Sport lineup is available to order in Australia now, with the range opening with the $143,600 SE D250 variant. First deliveries are expected from Q4, 2023.
The lineup, which is listed below, currently consists of diesel and plug-in hybrid variants, outside of the forthcoming SV.
Land Rover says that petrol derivatives of the Range Rover Sport will not arrive locally until MY25.
Land Rover says that the Range Rover Sport SV has several world firsts, including the use of a 23-inch carbon-fibre wheel option that sheds up to 76 kilograms of weight from the vehicle.
Another first is the use of carbon-ceramic brakes for the first time in Range Rover’s history, as well as a carbon-fibre bonnet.
Land Rover says that the Range Rover Sport SV has one of the most sophisticated suspension setups in its class – called 6D Dynamics – that uses hydraulic interlinked dampers, height-adjustable air springs and pitch control all standard.
The new Range Rover Sport SV rides between 10mm and 25mm lower than other Range Rover Sports in the lineup and works in collaboration with all-wheel drive, all-wheel steering and torque vectoring by braking.
Other key features of the SV include a sizable 29-speaker Meridian sound system, speakers installed in the front seats and a 13.1-inch centre touchscreen.
All prices listed are before on-road costs.
