Skoda rejuvenates Koqiaq with a fresh face and new value oriented offer

Skoda has released pricing for the 2025 Skoda Kodiaq seven-seat SUV range. The new Kodiaq Select starts at $54,990, before on-road costs, a $1700 lift over the outgoing Style.

Though it’s a little dearer, Skoda promises to have packed plenty of value into its seven-seater.

The new generation Kodiaq is built upon an updated version of the first generation car, released in 2017, and brings significant revisions. Major exterior features have been enhanced for the new generation, including new headlights, bumpers and more.

Inside, the new Kodiaq promises more cargo space, extra legroom for passengers, and a wealth of modern conveniences for the driver.

The three-row family SUV market is not without fierce competition. The Kodiaq Select will need to battle the $53,680 Kia Sorento S AWD, Hyundai Santa Fe ($53,000), and segment best-seller the $60,920 Toyota Kluger.

Sister brand Volkswagen’s Tiguan Allspace Life ($47,990) is cheaper, but shortly to be replaced by the upcoming Volkswagen Tayron.

Standard features of the Kodiaq Select

  • 19-inch ‘Lefka’ alloy wheels
  • Heated and power folding mirrors
  • Programmable ‘Smart Dials’ – multiple functions available to be set by driver
  • 13” Infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Nine speaker sound system
  • Twin wireless phone chargers
  • Adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go
  • Power-adjust driver seat
  • Heated front seats
  • Tri-zone climate control

A new value-for-money oriented Kodiaq Launch will join the model range, placed between the Sportline and RS. Skoda anticipates the Launch to be its best selling model, offering several enticing features for a competitive $63,490. The Launch is intended to be a limited edition, but Skoda is yet to confirm how long it will last.

What about the Kodiaq Launch edition?

  • Exclusive external colours
  • Matrix LED headlights with Dynamic cornering and Dynamic Light Assist
  • Dynamic Chassis Control
  • Panoramic Glass Sunroof
  • Massaging front seats
  • Digital head-up display
  • Hill descent control
  • Heated rear seats
  • Heated steering wheel

Kodiaq Sportline features

  • 20-inch ‘Rila’ alloy wheels with clip-on aero covers
  • Matrix LED headlights with Dynamic Light Assist
  • Gloss black exterior feature highlights including metallic black grille frame
  • Aluminium pedals
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Leatherette dashboard trim with grey stitching
  • Driving Profile Selection
  • Heating function on steering wheel
  • Bucket-style sports seats with integrated headrest
  • Premium Sound system

Regardless of trim, all Skoda Kodiaqs will come with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol four cylinder engine mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic. The 140TSI engine produces 140kW and 320Nm.

The Kodiaq RS is due later this year and produces more punch, at 195kW and 370Nm, matching the outputs of the facelifted Octavia RS.

Built on the MQB-Evoplatform, the Skoda Kodiaq is offered in Europe as a plug-in hybrid. There are no plans (yet) for an Australian arrival.

Offerings for safety and driver assistance include nine airbags, lane keeping assist, front and side assist, emergency assist, turn assist, driver fatigue detection, and traffic sign recognition.

The Skoda Kodiaq range launches in Australia this month.
