Over 12,000 expressions of interest have already been accepted by Volkswagen for the new Amarok
Volkswagen is just weeks away from the local launch of the all-new Amarok, with pre-orders now open for the ute in Australia.
First deliveries are set to take place in May, with all variants to be available for customers at launch.
Pricing for the Amarok ute is set to start at $50,900 before on-road costs for the Core 2.0-litre with a manual transmission, and tops out at $79,990 before on-road costs for the flagship Aventura grade.
The online configurator is now open for the all-new Amarok, though the manual Core will be added to this feature at a later date.
The new Amarok will come with the choice of four different powertrains, including two 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engines, a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 shared with the related T6.2 Ford Ranger and, lastly, a 2.3-litre turbo-petrol engine.
Of the lot, the twin-turbo-diesel 2.0-litre engine is the most fuel efficient, claiming 7.2L/100km combined.
The single-turbo-diesel 2.0-litre has a claimed fuel economy of 8.0L/100km, while the 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 is not much higher at 8.4L/100km.
The 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine is the thirstiest, at 9.9L/100km combined.
All new Volkswagen Amaroks will only be available in dual-cab bodystyle.
Amarok Core
Drivetrain: TDI405 2.0-litre diesel w/selectable 4WD in either manual ($50,990) or auto ($52,990)
The Amarok lineup opens with the Core model which comes standard with an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.0-inch centre touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four-speaker sound system, fabric seats and single-zone air conditioning.
On the outside, the Core wears 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, electric folding side mirrors and features rear tray tie down rings.
Also included for the Core model is tyre pressure monitoring, a six-speed auto or manual transmission, a six-way manual driver seat and wireless phone charging.
Amarok Life
Drivetrain: TDI500 2.0-litre twin-turbo-diesel w/selectable 4WD
Stepping into the Amarok Life variant, buyers will receive the same basic specifications as the Core, plus LED fog lights, six-speaker sound system, eight-way manual driver and front passenger seats, a leather multi-function steering wheel and gear shifter and front and rear floor mats.
From the Life variant and up, all Amaroks are fitted with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Amarok Style
Drivetrain: TDI500 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel w/selectable 4WD ($66,990) or TDI600 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 w/full time 4WD ($70,990)
Amarok Style variants step up to the next level with larger 18-inch alloy wheels, a larger 12.0-inch infotainment screen, 12.3-inch instrument cluster, IQ light LED headlights, a power tailgate and a stainless steel sports bar.
A 10-way electrically adjustable driver seat and eight-way electrically adjustable front passenger seat, dual-zone climate control and ambient lighting is also included.
Amarok Panamericana
Drivetrain: TDI600 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6, full time 4WD, priced at $75,990
The next variant in the lineup is the Amarok Panamericana that adds 18-inch black alloy wheels, X-design front grille, black sports bar, LED tail lights and a spray-in bedliner.
Also included for the Panamericana is leather seat upholstery, 10-way electrically-adjustable front seats, an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, rear air vents and ambient lighting.
Amarok Aventura
Drivetrain: TDI600 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 or TSI452 2.3-litre turbo-petrol; both with full-time 4WD and priced at $79,990.
The flagship Aventura gains large 21-inch alloy wheels, rear sailplane, Savona leather upholstery, black headliner, eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and an insulated windshield.
