VW’s most affordable R model gets the wolf-and-castle treatment months ahead of next-generation T-Roc’s expected unveiling.
The Volkswagen T-Roc has been given the German brand’s ‘Wolfsburg’ treatment for the first time, ahead of the next-generation small SUV’s expected reveal in September.
VW has applied the Wolfsburg badge to its sportiest T-Roc, the R, which brings a range of extras including an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, 19-inch Pretoria dark alloy wheels, a carbonfibre-style C-pillar, plus various black exterior and interior elements and an Indium Grey matte-paint body.
The T-Roc R Wolfsburg Edition is priced from $69,290 before on-road extras – giving it a $4300 premium over the regular T-Roc performance variant that costs from $64,990.
Supply is strictly limited to 200 units in Australia, said Volkswagen.
There are no changes to the T-Roc R’s drivetrain, which serves up 221kW and 400Nm from a 2.0-litre turbo petrol four-cylinder – distributed to all four wheels. VW claims 4.9 seconds for the 0-100km/h sprint.
The T-Roc R special’s extras are familiar from previous Wolfsburg special editions, which pay homage to VW’s global headquarters. The wolf-and-castle badge has been applied to several VWs over the years, including the Golf, Scirocco, Passat Alltrack, Tiguan and Touareg.
VW’s second-generation T-Roc is set to debut at September’s ‘IAA’ motor show in Munich, Germany.
